Artdoc Photography Magazine
Issue #2 2023, Visual Diary
Thank you Artdoc Magazine for the 7 page spread of my assemblage series, Remembering Papa. I am super thrilled to be able to share my family with your readers.
In the past, people used to write down their daily experiences in diaries, but in our visual age, we use photography to record our lives. The visual diary has become a common practice of modern storytelling. In recent times photographers and artists have used this form of private visual storytelling to get hold of their lives and past, which seldom appears to be troublesome and traumatic. In this issue of Artdoc Magazine, we interviewed three artists who dived into their family past and found secrets, broken stories, and haunting demons. Featured: JP Terlizzi • Carolle Bénitah • Astrid Reischwitz

INTERVIEW: All About Photo
All About Photo: Feature Artist by Ann Jastrab
I first met JP Terlizzi at the PhotoLucida portfolio reviews in 2017. He sat down and I started looking through his pictures of his mother. There was love and there was loss and there was something else in between them. I listened to his story of family and the past and the pain and then what happens when the past is never dealt with and mental illness goes untreated and claims get staked and siblings cease to be on the same side and misunderstanding reigns. I could also simultaneously see his adoration of his mother and his questioning of her and his observations of her and also the challenges that surrounded their family like an encroaching sea.
AAP Magazine Issue 1: LIGHT JP Terlizzi Winner
For it's firt issue, the jury chose 15 photographers for their different approach to the definition of photography itself "drawing with light". Their work is diverse from fine art to documentary, poetic beauty or abstraction.
